1. Overturning the Bulk SMS Burden

We successfully achieved the reversal of bulk SMS charges previously implemented by MTN. This victory protects the messaging sub-sector from undue financial strain, ensuring that services remain viable, competitive, and affordable for all Nigerians.

2. Sanitizing the Lottery & Gaming Space

To bring clarity to the intersection of telecoms and gaming, WASPAN engaged the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) and the Lagos State Lottery and Gaming Authority (LSLGA). We focused on resolving friction points to ensure members operate within a clear, respected regulatory framework.

3. Championing Market Fairness

We joined forces with the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC) to:

• Protect the market from predatory practices
• Uphold consumer rights without stifling innovation
• Maintain a balanced relationship between MNOs and VAS providers

4. The Innovation Watchdog: The MTN Lottery Dashboard

In a landmark move, we are in talks with MTN to develop a Lottery Dashboard. This tool will checkmate industry players by providing a transparent window into the payment of winnings—restoring public trust and weeding out non-compliant actors.
